Pruritus ani: In some individuals pruritus ani may be caused by eating certain foods, smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages, especially beer and wine. Food items that have been associated with pruritus ani include:coffee, teacarbonated beverages, milk products, tomatoes and tomato products such as ketchup, cheese, chocolate, nuts. Other causes: pin worms, hemorrhoids, yeast, psoriasis.

Not so much: It would be good to find out why you developed the itch.But that has been adressed by others.In the short term OTC hydrocortizone cream applied to the itchy area twice a day can often diminish the symptoms.People often have a localized rash at the area that is amplified with the trauma of scratching.
