Depends: The injury maybe evident immediately on an x-ray. Sometimes, a slater 1 injury, does not show on an x-ray. This type of growth plate injury is based on clinical history, the mechanism of injury, and the exam. Also, a repeat x-ray, may show evidence of healing on a fracture that was not seen on the initial x-ray.
