Like an adult: Not everyone is sedated for wisdom tooth extraction. You will be numb, and maybe you will feel some pressure, but that's about it. Everything should be fine.

Shouldn't be painful: In most cases for wisdom teeth removal, oral surgeons often use nitrous oxide in combination with local anesthesia. You may elect to have wisdom teeth removed with local or general anesthetic.
