A member asked:

Could anyone explain the effects of furosemide on lung's edema?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: It depends on the cause. If the pulmonary edema is cardiogenic, furosemide lowers cardiac filling pressures and pulmonary capillary wedge pressure promoting net movement of fluid out of alveoli into capillaries as hydrostatic pressure falls. If it's due to non-cardiogenic causes, furosemide will have no effect.
