A member asked:

Docs, could a sun allergy be treated by going in the sun and building up tolerance?

Under Supervision: Solar urticaria is rare and presents as itchy red hives that appear within 5-10 minutes of sun exposure and resolve within 24 hours. Phototesting by an Allergist can confirm diagnosis. Certain medications or photodesensitization under supervision with low-dose PUVA or narrowband UVB initially given with oral steroids is usually required for management. See Allergist for more details.
