I am not: Involved in allergy testing, but we give children oral versed mixed with some juice and they don't seem to care about anything afterwards.

Not a good idea: Most children over 5 can usually be persuaded to undergo prick skin test with a bribe. There is also local anesthetic cream to numb the slight amount of discomfort and it would not affect the skin test findings getting a blood test may be another option (but this is actually more frightening to a child).
