Masking is possible: There is no medical treatment for tinnitus. Patho-physiology is now understood to be an increase in synchronous electrical discharge in the auditory nervous system. An audiologist can match the pitch and intensity of the tinnitus and sometimes, this masker (hearing aid) can decrease the awareness of the tinnitus. Also identify if you have a hearing loss. Unilateral hearing loss needs diagnosis
