What is the most effective treatment for tinea versicolor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several options: If you're not adverse to taking a safe medication... the physicians I've known who've had this very common skin problem take a big ketoconazole tablet and then go work out to build up a sweat. Doing this once a month usually keeps tinea versicolor under control. Topical ketoconazole, or a selenium sulfide shampoo, are among your many other options.
