Yes/No: Although coughing and laughing that results in back pain suggests a herniated disk, this will not generally be anything that will harm you in the long run. That said, if there is any perceived weakness or ascending numbness in the legs or arms, that would be of concern. If you are worried I would suggest you see your doctor for further workup with imaging like Xray or MRI.

Depends: Depends where pain is & type of pain.If upper back, such pain is often benign & is result of muscle, rib or vertebral dysfunction.Good osteopathic hands-on exam & history might elucidate cause.Manipulation may help.Lower back still likely benign & result of similar problems.Low back, though, not uncommon to have kidney stone-pain aggravated by harsh movement.Recommend see dr. to be sure.
