Depends: There actually is no recommendation to have a preventive oophorectomy. However, if you have a family history of ovarian cancer, personal history of breast cancer, or are about to undergo hysterectomy for other reasons, that is a question to consider. If you are merely undergoing hysterectomy for benign reasons, it is not recommended under the age of 60.
