Bursitis, contusion: Falling off a horse can lead to a myriad of hip complaints, to include: greater trochanteric bursitis, simple muscle bruising or injury (abductors or "rotator cuff" muscles of the hip), cartilage damage to hip joint leading to arthritis, a hip labral tear, hip joint subluxation or dislocation, to name the main injuries observed.
