Practice, practice: Practice. I used to be a military diver. Don't recommend hyperventilating to increase breath hold capacity as that can lead to blackout and drowning. I worked at it by swimming long lengths under water and getting timed doing breath holds underwater. Maybe some one has other tips. I just did it the old -fashioned way.
