Hi docs, is it true that presentation laser pointers are slowly damaging to your eyes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Do not point at eye: It is never safe to point laser lights directly at the eye. Reflections off mirrors or magnified by binoculars or the like can amplify the light signal and become more dangerous. Injury CAN occur base on exposure time and power. There is no evidence that the proper use of presentation lasers pointing at lecture material would be harmful to the eyes.
