Not the source: The best research indicates that aids started in central African monkeys who were the food for Chimps who then became food for humans in that area. Transmission is by blood to blood contact and the thin lining of the anus during anal sex makes blood to blood contact more likely. So this type of sex was not the cause, but the agent for spread.
