A member asked:

Can docs please explain are carbohydrates really great factors in weight loss?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

They are: Carbohydrates stimulate the release of insulin. One reason it is difficult for people to lose weight is that over time, eating a lot of carbs can cause the baseline Insulin level to rise. High Insulin levels = weight gain. In order to lower the baseline Insulin you need to lower the amount of carbs and increase the amount of fiber and protein.
