A member asked:

Why does gravity make sinus pressure worse?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Barotrauma: Just as the middle ear requires pressure equalization when a change in gravity occurs (as in an airplane or scuba diving), the paranasal sinuses require the pressure inside these air containing cavities to be equal to the outside atmospheric pressure. If a sinus cavity is blocked by inflammation, there is a negative pressure in that cavity, just as in et blockage. Sounds like you have sinusitis.
