Leaving hemmorhoid: As an anal fissure heals and complications from a hemmorhoid occur, the older procedure was to do hemmorhoidectomy or excise the hemmorhoid and approximated anal skin in a way not to cause stricture. Many now elevate the hemmorhoid and place a tight rubber band at the base until the lesion virtually sloughs off.
