Talk to physician!: Malignant hyperthermia is a very serious condition and can be life threatening. This should be discussed with the surgeon and anesthesiologist that would be involved prior to any surgery.

Yes, definitely: Certain anesthesia drugs (such as succinylcholine and inhaled gases related to ether) are the triggers for mh. When we know a pt has known mh or a family history, we avoid those drugs and use only IV medications which are known to be safe for mh patients. Be sure to tell all your doctors, especially your physician anesthesiologist, if there is mh in your family. Very important!
