It is painful: Fracturing the bone is more painful than fracturing the cartilage. Whether it's due to trauma or nasal surgery, you would be given pain medication that you would take for 4-5 days, on average, to make you more comfortable. You would also have a lot of swelling, so ice and elevation of the head will help as well. A soft diet will be necessary for one week.
