Not sure: Swallowing is a complex function crossing nerve boundaries and organs. Most likely, it is a sensation not associated with a functional problem. However, it could represent a functional problem of the swallowing mechanism. The best test to look at this is a x-ray study of your swallowing mechanism. This is called a barium swallow.
