Absolutely : The appendix is located where the small and large bowel connect. Constipation causes the colon to distend- this is the discomfort. Generally constipation only extends to the splenic flexure (left upper abd) but if you r very backed up, it could extend all the way through the colon. If you have fever, blood in stool, unable to pass gas or severe pain u need to go to the ed.
