A member asked:

Can having palomar laser skin resurfacing under the eyes - in the dark circle region - cause an ectropion? i was told it could, but not sure about it.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possible but unlikel: Ectropion is an out turning of the lid margin causing the lid to lift away from the eyeball. Tightening the lower lid in a vertical fashion can cause it to turn outwards but it is very unlikely that the laser could cause this degree of tightening and lid rotation. Ectropion usually occurs in the older population due the muscle laxity. The treating doctor can eval you for any laxity.
