A member asked:

I understand nkcells are necessary to maintain homeostasis, however a pt with a cancer dx, where nkcells can fight the malignancy can they be increase?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Nk cells are part of the innate immunity. The immune system has two components, cell and humoral immunity. When an igg is given therapeutically it has to be in the humanized (chimeric) or human form. The igg works by adcc (antibody dependent cell cytotoxicity) carrying nk cells to the tumor where no is released to cause tumor cell destruction. The fc has receptors for nk.
