My 9 m/o doesn't like eating baby food anymore or the baby cereals. he would rather eat my food. is that normal?

Normal: Typical for this age - okay to eat normal food just not small, round, hard things (choking hazard). Children under one year should not eat honey or cow milk either.

Congratulations: Your baby is perfect! this is the age when they notice you are eating something different than they are and yours looks better! now, you really have to set a good example of healthy eating! it gets a bit harder now balancing his nutritional needs with avoidance of choking hazards.

Nice transition: Baby foods are a commercial product that became necessary during ww2 and has continued do to convenience. You could actually make it all yourself if you took the time but most don't. It was/is meant to be transitional food. When you can get the kid to eat the foods you prepare for the family, you are far ahead of most parents. As long as he accepts a broad range of foods, i wouldn't worry about it.

Normal: Most children will reach an age when they wanted to feed themselves. Offering small finger foods, soft fruits and veggies, pieces of meat, cheese, rice, noodles, bread and other simple foods, that he can pick up will help him learn good fine motor skills and let him become more independent. Avoid spicy foods, keep it plain, 1 new food at a time. Make sure he doesn't choke on a new food.
