A1C ?: If the 7.7 blood reading is referring to a hemoglobin a1c. This test represents the percentage of of oxidized hemoglobin and can be correlated with the average blood glucose over the previous three months. For example, the normal a1c is approximately 5.5%, if the blood glucose is elevated, as in diabetes, a higher proportion of hemoglobin will be oxidized. Over 6.5 suggest diabetes.
