Tongue inflammation: Or possible macroglossia. It is an abnormal enlargement of the tongue. The common cause is a result of trauma, tongue biting or dental irritation. The condition also called self-inflicted traumatic macroglossia. Your doctor may prescribe an anti-inflammatory drug or suggest an otc Ibuprofen to help minimize inflammation and reduce pain while the underlying cause is treated.
