Sonogram first: 1. Possible deep vein thrombosis (especially if you are a smoker, had recent leg injury, or family history of blood clots) doppler study? 2. Is there a soft tissue mass in that area? Sonogram may help find it. 3. Possible pressure on the s1 nerve root (but less likely).
