Jealousy = crazy: A doctor i trained with said that otherwise sane folk went crazy in the face of sexual/romantic jealousy. He even gave anti-psychotic medication to clear it up. The person otherwise is not psychotic or generally paranoid. Just about this issue. Yes, help is what he offered. Talk therapy was also needed to get poast it and not think it means more than it does. Best!

Paranoia: Yes, suspiciousness can reach psychotic proportions. Spying isn't diagnostic of any particular mental disorder, but a psychiatric evaluation could determine if one is present. Some people who have been mistreated by others become very suspicious to avoid being hurt again. If there's an illness and the person is willing, treatment could be provided.
