Seizure management: it is advisable that the patient be switched over to other medications which are ssecond-generation drugs such as Keppra (levetiracetam) or Lamictal which are normally more effective and have less side effects.. Switching her medication has to be done under medical supervision, please follow through with your neurologist while doing this. Anti-seizure medications have to be individualized.

You bet!: Tegretol is a very old medication, dating back close to 50 years. We now have over 20 anti-epileptic medications. See a neurologist.
