Maybe: Most of the time it is probably a low risk of transmitting the virus. However some asymptomatic viral shedding can take place and infect your partner when you think it is perfectly safe. Taking oral Acyclovir probably decreases the risk of viral shedding making transmission even lower. You should inform your partner either way. He or she may want to be on Acyclovir as well, to decrease risk.
