DEPENDS ON SYMPTOMS: If you pain is just back related it could be a bruise/contusion. If either of your legs are weak or painful you may have a herniated disc. Narcotics usually don't work so well for this type of pain. Rest, ice and anti-inflammatories (as directed on the bottle) should be the mainstay for a few weeks. If no improvement after about 3-4 weeks see your doctor. You may need to hold off on workouts.

No quick fixes: Rest, hot bath, massage, nsaids and if that fails then opioid medications. Will give symptomatic relief. It is difficult to say how long it will take for complete recovery.
