A member asked:

Can stress plus broken nerves/nf lead to fatty lumps that can sprout anywhere on the body.i know that nerve damage and nf can but can stress be factor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not much: Neurofibromatosis type 1 is a condition where you can develop many skin bumps - neurofibromas - over time. Stress is less a factor than hormones - puberty and, for women, childbearing are when more neurofibromas pop up. Time is another major factor - you just get more as you get older. The nerves are not broken. Here's a good discussion site: http://www.Inspire.Com/groups/neurofibromatosis-network.
