Continue the codeine: I would recommend that you continue the codeine thru the surgery. On at the morning of surgery take your medications with a sip of water. Make sure that the anesthesiologist is aware of your codeine intake.* He/She MUST know you are taking a narcotic (codeine) prior to surgery. You MUST tell the anesthesiologist the dose and frequency of administration. You may taper the codeine after surgery.
