You can relieve dry mouth temporarily by using otc products containing xylitol . However, for the best long-term dry mouth treatment, you need to see orofacial pain or oral medicine specialist.

Dry mouth: Many medications will cause dry mouth. Talk to your doctor about medications and see a dentist also. Dry. Mouth will cause cavities. Avoid sugary and acidic foods and drinks. Avoid mouthwash with alcohol with can maki it worse. Biotene products are specifically made to help dry mouth. Chewing xylitol or sugar free gum can stimulate saliva flow. Keep well hydrated.

See your doctor...: See your doctor and ask if a referral to rheumatology might be warranted. Many reasons for dry mouth but one thing you don't want to miss is an autoimmune disease called sjogren's syndrome. Blood tests can be helpful in diagnosing this. Sjogren's can also cause dry eyes since it causes inflammation and damage to tear glands and saliva glands. Sjogren's syndrome is a cousin of lupus.
