Virus: There is a large family of viruses that tend to produce fever. Toward the end of their process they often have a final phase marked by a speckled red rash on the body.As long as the kis stays hydrated, most of these can be monitored at home and self heal. The rash will likely fade in a few days to a week.

Likely, viral rash: Many viruses will cause a fine, symmetrical rash on the body and may be preceded by a fever. If the rash looks more like a sunburn or pimple, i would recommend evaluation by a doctor. Otherwise, if your infant is feeding well and acting fairly normal, it should be safe to give it a few days and it will likely fade.
