The question is: Whether it's medical or behavioral. Have a consistent bedtime ; routine: read, rock, feed, brush his teeth, then put him in his crib in his own room drowsy, but awake, without bottle or pacifier, to self-calm to sleep. He'll learn to settle back to sleep when he night wakes. If the pediatrician says he's healthy, ignore the night crying. www.aap.org has tips on how to do this in a graded fashion.
