Ballooning...: Dilation of upper stomach. Upper stomach has expandoble folds (rugae) , like an accordion, to accommodate filling with food, air, liquid. Relative over expansion could cause or worsen reflux. Among other measures to rx reflux, avoid large meals, carbonated beverages.

Associated w/ reflux: Our stomach is one pouch with a gate at both ends. The proximal part is the part by the esophagus/ entry gate. The distal part is the exit gate. Gastric distention is the stomach being increased in size due to food/ liquid intake or gas, etc. Reflux is associated with proximal gastric distention. Eat frequent small meals instead of large ones as then "the gate" isn't so challenged/ pushed on.
