Tonsillitis: Although these symptoms may have started as an upper respiratory tract viral infection, the red swollen throat with white spots sounds like acute tonsillitis. I would recommend seeing a physician, having a throat culture and being placed on an appropriate antibiotic. The nasal symptoms may represent the continuation of a viral rhinitis.
