A member asked:

What hormones and enzymes control the conversion of t4 to t3 (liothyronine)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Thyroid hormone: 5'-deiodinase; it is found in essentially every cell of the body and gives consistent conversion of T4 to t3 (liothyronine). This is why you do not need to give people t3 (liothyronine), but only t4.
