Possibly: Usually its the other way around. That is, young children frequently become ill because they attend day care where many children harbor viral infections. At age 53 most people do not become infected with bacteria as often as children. However, i see adults at your age with tonsillitis but rarely. I do not think that living with older people is commonly a reason for frequent infections.
