Avapro (irbesartan): Avapro (irbesartan) is an anti-hypertensive agent in the arb class. It is not timed-release, so pills can be split. A 225 mg dose is both acceptable and possible.

Pretty close?: Your doctor will define if you need 150 or 300 (225 is very unusual dose) and if your BP is controlled or not. "pretty close" is not close enough. Have you tried also all non pharmacologic ways to control it? (low sodium diet, get to your "normal" weight and exercise, etc) they will also help get your BP under control and you will require less medicines. Please do not manage hbp by yourself.
