Need evaluation.: A painful swollen upper eyelid is likely a chalazion or stye. First line treatment is to apply warm compresses to the eyelid for 5-10 minutes several times a day. However, new spots(floaters) in the vision should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist to rule out any retinal tears or holes.
