Possibly: Grief and depression can seem similar, since both have sad mood plus changes in sleep, appetite, and energy. Depression can also include irrational guilt and negative self-image -- sometimes intensifying to suicidal thinking. Neither of the latter is true of plain grief, a natural process of letting go and moving on. Grief counseling may help you through. "stuck" grief can worsen into depression.
