No harm done: 5 mg/day of Folic Acid is too large a dose for an infant, but Folic Acid is water soluble, and thus excess Folic Acid will be excreted through urine. I would say 0.5 mg/day would be good enough, but sometimes a smaller dose in a liquid form costs more. I would give 1mg tab to her daily. ( crush it in milk or water).
