Birth control: The "pill' is absorbed when you take it but to prevent pregnancy needs to be taken daily and consistently. You should use a back up (barrier or spermicide) for at least the 1st week, even better for the entire 1st cycle. Oral contraceptives cannot prevent std's so continued condom use is suggested while you are on the pill.
