Muscle strain: Many things can cause calf pain, if it is recent, probably a muscle strain. Are you stretching prior to running? Are you wearing good running shoes? A good option is to bring your shoes to a running store and have them evaluate for fit, sometimes the way your foot moves with activity requires orthotics (go into your shoes and help with proper foot motion).
