Hard to do: The thumb usually ends close to where the finger begins. A simple wrap around just slips off the thumb when you sweat. You can purchase or construct a thumb extender and then tape that to the thumb and index finger. Alternatively you can just tape both to the side of your face, but that tends to be rather cumbersome.
