Treatment is needed: Untreated mood disorders can have a negative effect on pregnancy. From poor appetite, unmotivated to care for self, risk of suicide to recklessness, and impulsiveness effects of bipolar disorder can adversely effect pregnancy. These need to be taken into consideration along with the risks and benefits of treatment for a given individual.
