What to do about omnicelf allergy?

Avoidance: Avoidance of Omnicef (cefdinir) is key. But, it's equally important to know that you're likely not allergic to all antibiotics that are considered in the cephalosporin family. Omnicef (cefdinir) is one such antibiotic, but other cephalosporins would likely be ok! I hope this helps.

Avoidance/Testing: While avoidance is always the most important treatment for a drug allergy, it is important to see an Allergist in order to determine if your reaction is truly an allergy. Since you reacted to a cephalosporin, penicillin skin testing can be completed to make sure you didn't react to the beta-lactam ring shared by both medication classes. This can be followed by oral challenge depending on history.
