A member asked:

What to do if i have the fludoc prescribed methylprednisolone in addition to tamiflu (oseltamivir). is this common?

Yes: The flu causes inflammation and the steroid will decrease this and improve symptoms. Steroid does not treat the flu...just the symptoms.

It depends on the: it depends on the clinical setting. The Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is being used to treat the flu. The physicians may have given the methylprednisone for another problem since it does not help treat the viral infection which is the flu. Ask your doctor to explain to you why you received this.
